Quarter Maze

Answers to common questions and a direct line to the developer.

How to play

Tap one of the four quarters to rotate it 90° clockwise. Walls and mechanisms rotate with it, as does the ball if it is in that quarter. The ball keeps its heading relative to the screen, then rolls until it meets an obstacle. Align gates between quarters and guide the ball to the exit. Entering an arrow changes its heading.

Switches, shutters, and loops

Floor switches A/B toggle shutters with the same letter across all quarters. Entering a switch again reverses its state. Some shutters have opposite states, so A ON does not mean every A shutter is open. If the ball enters a repeating route, movement pauses: rotate a quarter to change the path.

Hints, undo, and restart

The lightbulb searches for a solution from your current position and highlights the quarter for the next turn; hints are included in the app price. If no hint is found, undo a turn or restart the level. Undo reverses the previous turn, including circuit changes. Restart resets the current level; it does not clear all records and settings. There is no timer or limited supply of lives.

Levels and saved progress

The current version has 80 levels: 10 chapters of 8 puzzles. The chapters are First steps, Finding a route, Switch A, Distant connections, Opposite states, Return routes, Two circuits, Reverse signal, Linked switches, The whole mechanism. All levels are available from the start. The level list offers quick chapter navigation and a separate completion counter for each chapter. The ball position, quarter rotations, circuit states, undo history, and best results are saved on your device. An unfinished animation is not saved as a completed turn. The app does not provide its own progress sync between devices.

Progress after the expanded collection update

When updating from the previous 12-level collection on the same device, results and unfinished games are automatically carried over to the new numbers of the corresponding puzzles. The original 12 puzzles are preserved; the 68 new puzzles start with no progress. Your language, theme, and haptic preferences are retained. Migration requires the previous version’s local data: do not delete the app before updating.

Language, appearance, and devices

The game supports iPhone and iPad with iOS/iPadOS 17 or later. Settings offers System default, English, and Русский, Stone garden and Midnight themes, and haptic feedback. The expand button provides a larger fullscreen board. After installation, gameplay and hints work without an internet connection.

One-time app purchase

Quarter Maze is a paid app: one App Store purchase includes all 80 levels in the current version, hints, and both themes. There are no in-app purchases, subscriptions, automatic renewals, or additional charges for game content. Check your App Store for the current price and availability before purchase; these may vary by country or region. The AppNest website does not accept payments.

Redownloading and refunds

To reinstall, use the same Apple Account and the purchased apps section of the App Store. Redownloading depends on app availability and device compatibility; downloading the app again does not itself restore local saves. There is no Restore purchases button inside the game because there are no in-app purchases. Request a refund for the app through Apple using the link below; Apple determines eligibility under the purchase terms and applicable consumer rights.
